I invited my 10-year-old nephew Matthew to give me his thoughts on a new publication of the Bible (NIV) designed for kids ages 9 to 12. He reviewed an online portion of the book of Matthew @ The Jesus Bible and offered the following insightful comments:
“I really like how the book begins with different questions that help you understand more. I like how it shows how that book points back to Jesus. I enjoyed the ‘Jesus Revealed’ sections. Even though you might know that Jesus is prophesied about in the Old Testament, it is really helpful having the exact reference for you that goes along with the verse you are reading. I also enjoyed the sections throughout the book that dove a little deeper into small sections of scripture. This helped me understand those passages a lot more. The prayers at the end of those sections were also helpful, especially when you don’t really know how to pray. They give you the words to say! Having all of Jesus’ words in red were also helpful. I also really liked the “Live Like Jesus” sections. Since we are working to be more like Jesus, it helps to have practical ideas on how to live that out. Overall, I really liked the bible.”
Thank you, Matthew, for an excellent review! You have earned a hardcover copy of The Jesus Bible.
