Extraordinary Grace by Gary Chapman and Chris Fabry

How the Unlikely Lineage of Jesus Reveals God’s Amazing Love

untitledThe beautiful cover of this book caught my attention because real grace is all about the cross of Christ and is surprisingly evident throughout His family tree. The authors explore the Biblical stories of Jesus’ ancestors with all of their faults and flaws. The colorful lives of Abraham, Rahab, Tamar, David, Bathsheba, Solomon, and Joseph (Mary’s husband) are profiled in an easy to read storytelling style that paints realistic portraits of these very human men and women in the lineage of Christ. The main thought I came away with is that God never chooses perfect people to accomplish His purposes but reveals His extravagant love and mercy in sinners who seek Him. The final chapter entitled Grace Made Flesh focuses on the extraordinary grace of God in the person of Jesus Christ, who absorbed the pain and penalty of our sin so that we can be set free if we trust in Him alone for salvation. I would recommend this lovely hardcover as a gift book for anyone who needs to experience more of God’s amazing grace . . . which is just about anyone.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher through the Moody Press blogger review program in exchange for an honest appraisal.
